PATTERNCLEAR is essentially myself, Phil Clarke (plus a few friends, now and then). Since I began releasing material as Patternclear in1992, one of my main aims has been to reach as many people as possible and let them know what I'm doing; This process started with the first cassette-only release "Slowdown", and continued through several compilation CD and cassette appearances up to the release of my first full-length album on CD called "Beat Supremacy" (VUZ 09), late in 1995. Both of these albums were a mix of pop songs and more ambient soundscape tracks. Since then, I've been concentrating on what I (and others) think I do best - constructing tracks that create an atmosphere and try to paint a picture in the listener's mind.The result is "Against the Tide" (BR 019),the new Patternclear album available through "Bastet Recordings": I think I've made the instrumental album I'd always hoped to make with "A.T.T.",and you have the chance to check out one of it's tracks,called "Nile Delta",as an MP3 file which is part of this Website. I'm a recent convert to the benefits of the 'Net, but I have to admit it's difficult to imagine a technology which would fit in with my "reach the most people" maxim better than it does, unless we're talking about an audio file on the next deep-space probe: I'll have to contact NASA about that!
